Move-Out Cleaning Checklist Cleaning Companies Actually Use

Move-out cleans fail when teams wing it. Property managers and landlords expect a rent-ready standard. Your checklist is how you deliver that standard every time — and defend yourself when someone claims a missed corner.

Use this as a field checklist your techs can run from a phone.

Kitchen

• Degrease stovetop, knobs, and drip pans (note if oven interior is included)
• Clean microwave interior/exterior
• Wipe cabinets exterior; interiors if scoped
• Clean sink, faucet, and disposal splash zone
• Wipe appliances exterior; pull fridge if scoped and safe
• Sweep/mop floors including under edges

Bathrooms

• Descale shower/tub, glass, and fixtures
• Clean toilet inside/out and base
• Wipe vanity, mirror, and exhaust fan cover
• Floors and baseboards

Living areas and bedrooms

• Dust surfaces, switches, and outlets
• Vacuum carpets or mop hard floors
• Wipe interior windows/sills if scoped
• Closets: shelves and floors
• Remove cobwebs in corners and ceilings you can safely reach

Final pass (what causes callbacks)

• Trash and debris removal within contracted limits
• Replace burned-out bulbs only if scoped
• Before/after photos by room
• Client or PM notes on remaining maintenance (not cleaning) issues

How companies should run the checklist

1. Confirm scope in writing before arrival (oven? inside cabinets? garage?)

2. Photo-document condition on arrival

3. Work kitchen and baths first when time is tight

4. Use a change-order text if condition exceeds scope

5. Send completion photos with the invoice
